Thursday we were traveling most of the day and arrived to New York that evening. We are so lucky to have the friends we do-we were able to stay at our friend Sammy's apartment in the city the whole time we were there, that saved us a bunch of un-needed hotel money! His other 5 roommates were awesome! They had maps ready for us and told us everything we needed to know before heading out the next morning.

On Friday morning, we started off with a little breakfast in the park...
and headed off to Times Square...
stopped in stores...
After walking around Times Square, we went to NBC, where we got our tickets for the tour. My degree is in Communications, specifically TV Production, so this was right up my alley! It was pretty neat to go in, I really enjoyed seeing the set of SNL.

After our tour, we wanted to grab some lunch. So we went to the restaurant from one of me and Drake's favorite shows to watch together, Seinfeld.
When we finished lunch, I threw on my Yankees hat and Drake changed shirts and we headed to The Bronx for the Yankees game! I snuck a picture of the lovely view I had walking to the park :)
Once we got there, the rain started falling :( But after waiting almost 3 hours for a rain delay they were ready to play ball! The Yankees won 6-3 and a homerun was hit just a few rows up from us. Drake got to watch his favorite player so he was excited. We were in the park for a long time, but it was definetely worth the wait.
So, a very successful and long first day! On Friday we got up and went to see the Statue of Liberty...
If you look closely you can see the Statue, it is the dot in the background :) We were going to take a ferry to get up close but there was over a 2 hour wait, and we wanted to see other things, so we took a few pictures and went on our way...
we saw the Brooklyn Bridge, ground zero, and the empire state building. We finished the afternoon with a little shopping and then went back to the apartment to get ready for dinner...
we ate at the stardust diner near broadway, a place that one of my students told me about. It's where the servers sing to you as you are eating dinner...
After dinner we went to our first broadway show, Wicked. It was so good! Drake was not too thrilled going into that night, Thursday was his night with baseball and Friday was my night with a show :) But he came out and said how surprised he was, that he really enjoyed it. It was a pretty funny show, for those that don't know it is about Glenda the good witch and the wicked witch of the west and their lives before Dorothy came along.
So, after the show we walked through Times Square one more time while all the lights were shining...
AANNDDD finally, Saturday we had to get up and get everything packed and ready to go :( But before we left, we walked around a little bit more and grabbed lunch, stopped by a park, and then grabbed the subway to the airport and headed out of town.
It was an amazing experience! I am so glad that we took this trip together. But it is always nice to be back at home sweet home. good night :)
